Audience Comments

Having once been a professional actress (and being still -as then) a full fledged Molliere fan in his original language, I came to see Tartuffe both longing for the delightful genious, and skeptical that a translation in language, style and philosophy could even be worth the time.

Alas, KeyCity Players performers!...You and your magnificent director,and play designers, effortlessly brought each of my many prejudices down. So intelligent, elegant, well understood, well translated, well acted, well- translated-visually play. What a way to do excellent classical French Master Theatre in the 2007. I even had to come with family and dear friends a second time...AND ENJOYED JUST AS MUCH (if not more!)

All kudos for your darling persons!... I would not be surprised to see you traveling the Country (or Countries) with your superb work!

In all admiration and respect.
Always love, light and laughter;

Thanks to a superb ensemble cast; creative direction and a wonderfully generic set design, what could have been an interesting, but somewhat stilted 350-year-old period piece, was instead an entertaining, fast-paced, very funny and surprisingly relevant piece of theater (and all in rhyme no less). It says something about the cast that they were able to make this seem perfectly natural. There were times [and others I talked to said the same thing] that you kept having to remind yourself that this was all in rhyme.

Also thought it was a wise decision not to have an intermission, which would have broken the flow and continuity of the action - the 90 minutes playing time seemed like half that time. Nice piece of work folks.

This is a VERY strong production. Great performances all the way around. To get a glimpse into the background for this production, be sure and read page 8 of your program when you see it.

Congratulations to all concerned!
