June 2012 -- KCPT regularly seeks funding for our many levels of theatre needs and projects. This year, so far, grants have been awarded to us for Capacity Building, our Perfoming Arts Series and for Capital Improvements.

A $3,000 grant was awarded at the sixth annual Grantmaker's Forum by Jefferson County Community Foundation. The proceeds of this grant will strengthen and enhance the abilities of the KCPT board and staff to achieve and build a five-year strategic plan for measurable and sustainable results.

A $2,000 grant was received from the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) to support our Performing Arts Series, Artist-in-Residency program. Support from WESTAF and the National Endowment for the Arts is based upon the artistic merit of the artists with whom we collaborate and the reach of our programs through the Pacific Northwest.

This year, KCPT is proud to announce a collaboration with the Inner Fish Performance Company from Kelowna B.C. Inner Fish is an nterdisciplinary performance company that collaborates ith artists from diverse disciplines to create original work that challenges the boundaries of live performance. The company's goals are to destabilize perceptions and open opportunities for reflection that creates meaningful experiences for audiences. Under the auspices of artistic directors Neil Cadger and Denise Kenney, former Port Townsend resident and KCPT director, the company is committed to offering educational and professional opportunities for emerging interdisciplinary artists.

The Rotary Club of Port Townsend awarded KCPT $1,000 to help repair the roof at the theater office located on Lawrence Street.

Throughout the years, Key City Public Theatre has received public and private grants from local and national associations that include the u.s. Bancorp Foundation, Target Corp., Humanities Washington, the Port Townsend Arts Commission, Washington State Arts Commission, Western States Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
