PT Shorts -- Director's Agreement and Application

Thank you for your interest in directing a PT Shorts in 2012.

You can apply to be a PT Shorts director by reading this page,

and then filling out and submitting the on-line form below.

(If you would rather save or print out this material

as a separate file, you can download this Word Document.)

Please read our Mission Statement and Goals for PT Shorts. By understanding the mission and the goals of this program we hope it will assist directors in choosing appropriate material and readers. Although we strive to afford every director as much creative freedom as possible, there are a few guidelines that need to be met.

We produce a quarterly PT Shorts poster to properly promote PT Shorts as a program. They are patterned after posters such as those used to advertise Farmer’s Market or Centrum events. In order to do this, we must have a title for your readings. Our preference is that the readings have some theme. It can be very broad such as a genre of writings, authors, or subject matter. The most important element is that the literature be chosen carefully and be of high quality.

I will need information from you regarding your selections and readers approximately two weeks before your PT Shorts readings. Please let us know if there is any strong language or adult themes in your readings. We want to include a warning for strong language or adult themes in the press releases. A confirmation letter along with the dates, press release information sheet and other particulars will be mailed to you once the season is set.

We would like to give new readers a chance to participate. We are asking that directors choose from a list of readers who audition at the Key City Public Theatre’s annual open auditions. It is not a requirement, but our loyal “Shorters” may appreciate hearing some new voices. Directors are welcome to attend the auditions, or may speak to KCPT’s Artistic Director for recommendations when casting readers.

Please fill out the information form and let me know if you have a preference for a month. I cannot guarantee that month will be available so also list any months you would not be available.
